Our History

In 1983 Mike Stephens started his own business called Mike Stephens and Associates just outside of Ballarat in Victoria. Mike recognised a need for practical, client focussed support to improve productivity and profitability on farms. The business continued to grow to meet gaps in the market and there was a strong focus on providing recruitment and human resource support to farmers as well as business and production advice.

As the business grew, Mike built a team of highly regarded consultants who were technologically as well as business savvy. The driving force behind each team member was a strong desire to contribute to the agricultural industry. Meridian Agriculture subsequently has a strong history of project management for industry groups and government.

Over time the business has answered the needs of clients and industry. It has grown to a team of 12 agricultural professionals and now services clients Australia wide from a base of seven Victorian and one New South Wales locations. Meridian Agriculture’s strategic direction has been to develop a consultancy business providing evidence based advice to producers. Most Meridian Agriculture consultants are involved in family farming operations. This, combined with a scientific approach to agriculture, gives Meridian Agriculture clients the edge.
